6 January 2025

We’re removing the Ruthven Street level crossing by building a rail bridge over the road to make Macleod level crossing-free in 2027.

We’re undertaking site investigations to help us understand local conditions and infrastructure from mid January to May. Information from these investigations will help inform the project’s concept designs.

What we’re doing

From mid January to May, we’ll:

  • establish temporary site facilities on Somers Avenue
  • investigate road and ground conditions
  • inspect local flora and fauna
  • locate underground services
  • investigate equipment in the rail corridor.

Investigations will take place from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

What to expect

We’ll establish a small, temporary site facility for workers next to the rail corridor on Somers Avenue. We’ll then conduct investigations on local roads, in the rail corridor and in the surrounding area.

During this time, you’ll notice:

  • traffic management in place with intermittent lane closures
  • digging equipment in the rail corridor, while trains aren’t running
  • crews and vehicles in the area.

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.
