We’re removing the dangerous and congested Ruthven Street, Macleod level crossing by building a rail bridge over the road.

Removing the level crossing will improve safety, reduce congestion and deliver more reliable travel times. Early works are underway and construction will start later this year.

We’re installing the combined services route (CSR) under the Davies Street pedestrian level crossing. The CSR is made up of pipes that hold the cables used for signalling, communications and power for the Hurstbridge Line.

To safely undertake these works, we’ll close the Davies Street pedestrian level crossing from 7am to 5pm, Monday 24 August and Tuesday 25 August.

Changes to the way you travel

Pedestrian

• Davies Street pedestrian rail crossing will be closed from 7am to 5pm, Monday 24 August and Tuesday 25 August. The pedestrian crossing will reopen each evening.
• Pedestrians travelling between Ellesmere Parade and Rosanna Parklands will be detoured via Lower Plenty Road to the south or via Ruthven and Chapman streets in the north. The detour may add up to 20 minutes to your journey.
• Accessible shuttle buses will be available on Ellesmere Parade and Von Nida Crescent for pedestrians to travel between Ellesmere Parade and Rosanna Parklands.
• Wayfinding signage will be in place along the pedestrian detour route and within Rosanna Parklands and Ellesmere Parade to direct pedestrians to shuttle bus stops.

Parking

• Up to 7 car parking spaces will be closed on Ellesmere Parade and 2 car parking spaces will be closed on Von Nida Crescent to cater for machinery and shuttle bus parking on Monday 24 August and Tuesday 25 August.
