We’re removing the dangerous and congested Ruthven Street, Macleod level crossing by building a rail bridge over the road. Removing the level crossing will improve safety, reduce congestion and deliver more reliable travel times. Early works are underway and construction will start later this year.
We’ll work behind barriers along Ellesmere Parade to install the new combined services route (CSR) under the ground in August. The CSR is made up of pipes with cables used for signalling, communications and power for the Hurstbridge Line.
What we’re doing
- Works behind barriers to install underground CSR
- Installing traffic management signage
What to expect
- Construction vehicles and machinery accessing the rail corridor from Ellesmere Parade
- Increased activity with machinery and work crews on site
- Increase in noise, dust and vibration with dust minimised by water carts
- Non-destructive digging in nature strips
- Temporary traffic management
- Davies Street pedestrian rail crossing closures in late August. A free, pedestrian shuttle bus and signage in place.
Works will be completed during normal construction hours from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm, Saturdays.
We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule; however, dates and times are subject to change.
