31 March 2026

We’re removing the Ruthven Street level crossing by building a rail bridge over the road. Construction will start later this year.

We’re locating services under the road and rail line at the Ruthven Street level crossing from 11pm to 5am each night from Sunday 19 April to Wednesday 22 April.

We’ll also complete ground surveys in and along the rail corridor near the level crossing during daytime hours during this time.

What we’re doing

We’re using non-destructive digging to locate services while trains aren’t running.

During this time, we’ll:

  • close Ruthven and Chapman streets at the level crossing from 11pm to 5am each night, with detours in place. See map below.
  • reopen the road to vehicles during the day
  • reinstate the road.

Please follow traffic management in the area.

What to expect

While we work, you may notice:

  • an increase in noise, light and construction vehicles in the area
  • road closures at the level crossing
  • crews working at night, near the rail line and level crossing

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.
