25 November 2025

We’re removing the Ruthven Street level crossing by building a rail bridge over the road to make Macleod and Rosanna level crossing
free in 2027.

We’re undertaking site investigations to help us understand local conditions and inform the project’s concept designs.

What we’re doing

We’re carrying out investigations, ecological surveys and testing of the ground near the level crossing on weekdays from 7am to 6pm, Thursday 4 December through to early 2026.

We’ll work along Ellesmere Parade and McNamara Street near the rail corridor on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 December.

We’ll carry out further investigations and surveys around the level crossing and rail corridor from Monday 15 December to early 2026.

What to expect

  • Crews with testing and digging equipment on Ellesmere Parade, McNamara Street and near the level crossing and rail corridor
  • Traffic management and detours in place to guide motorists, pedestrians and bike riders around the work areas
  • Increased construction vehicles in the area.

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.

We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule; however, dates are subject to change.

Changes to the way you travel

  • Thursday 4 December, 7am to 6pm, Eastern side of McNamara Street:
