We’re removing the dangerous and congested Ruthven Street, Macleod level crossing by building a rail bridge over the road. Removing the level crossing will improve safety, reduce congestion and deliver more reliable travel times. Early works are underway and construction will start later this year.

In August, we’ll begin works to install the new combined services route (CSR) under the ground along the rail corridor between Invermay Grove, Rosanna and May Street, Macleod. The CSR is made up of pipes that hold the cables used for signalling, communications and power for the Hurstbridge Line.

Jemena will also remove redundant overhead power cables on the corner of Chapman Street and Rosanna Parklands.

What we’re doing

  • Installing underground CSR
  • Removing redundant power cables on Chapman Street
  • Installing traffic management signage

What to expect

  • Parking spaces closed at Macleod Station
  • Lane closures on Chapman Street and Somers Avenue. Please see map below.
  • Davies Street pedestrian rail crossing closed at times
  • Increased activity with machinery and work crews on site and in local streets
  • Increase in noise, dust and vibration with dust minimised by water carts
  • Non-destructive digging in nature strips
  • Temporary traffic management.

Works will be completed during normal construction hours from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm, Saturdays.

We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule; however, dates and times are subject to change.
