1 May 2024

Work is powering ahead to make the Lilydale Line level crossing free by 2024, a year ahead of schedule.

Works are ramping up to remove the congested level crossing and roundabout by elevating the rail line, building a new Croydon Station and transport hub, and creating new road links to connect Croydon’s town centre.

What we’re doing

Large bridge beams will be lifted into place by cranes during day and night shifts in Railway Crescent from Sunday 5 May until Friday 17 May 2024. Throughout these works, there will be intermittent impacts to some driveways on Railway Crescent to allow for safe crane movements while the beams are being installed.

What to expect

The driveway of 1 Railway Crescent and the Coolstore Road driveway attached to 2 Croydon Road (Methven Professionals) will be temporarily unavailable during this time, resulting in some impacts to the rear business parking for properties from 2 to 22 Croydon Road.

Access will be maintained via the laneway alongside the old fire station, 14 Croydon Road, between the hours of 7am and 7pm. A temporary traffic signal will be in place to assist vehicle movements.

Some residential driveways on Railway Crescent will have intermittent driveway impacts during this time. Residents have been individually notified of these impacts. Access will be maintained for emergency services.

Please be aware works can sometimes take longer than expected or need to be rescheduled due to weather and other factors outside of our control.
