The Lilydale Line is level crossing free – a year ahead of schedule.

The dangerous and congested level crossing and roundabout at Coolstore Road, Croydon has been removed with trains now running along the new rail bridge and cars traveling along the new Kent Avenue to Lacey Street road connection.

Some finishing works will take place each day and night from 7.30am until 4pm and 7.30pm until 4am respectively, from Monday 8 December to Friday 12 December 2025, including road resurfacing, kerb works and crossover pavement.

Traffic shuttle flow will be provided in both directions but please allow extra time for your journey.

The community are encouraged to follow traffic management signage in place during these works.

We’ll be in touch with individual properties and businesses to discuss any specific impacts.

Works taking place in December

Corner of Wicklow Avenue and Devon Street and along Devon Street

From 7.30pm, Monday 8 December to 4am, Wednesday 10 December:

  • Excavation and removal of the current ramp within the 2 pram crossings at the traffic lights and preparation for a concrete pour on the day shift on the corner of Wicklow Avenue and Devon Street.
  • Rectification works to the Devon Street cross over, pit lid rectification and adjustments along Devon Street.
  • Set-up of temporary light towers in various locations along Devon Street
    • Traffic shuttle flow will be provided via traffic management onsite.
    • Water barriers will be in place roadside during shifts at the corner of Wicklow Avenue and Devon Street. These will not impact traffic.

Along Devon Street and intersection of Devon Street and Main Street

From 7.30pm, Tuesday 9 December to 4am, Wednesday 10 December:

  • Asphalt re-surfacing works along Devon Street and crack sealing works at the Devon Street and Main Street intersection.
  • Set-up of temporary light towers in various locations along Devon Street.
    • Traffic shuttle flow will be provided via traffic management onsite.

Along Devon Street and corner of Wicklow Avenue and Devon Street

From 7.30am, Tuesday 9 December to 4pm, Wed 10 December:

  • Concrete pours on the corner of Wicklow Avenue and Devon Street, including the Devon Street cross over. The community are encouraged to follow traffic management signage in place during these works. We’ll be in touch with individual properties and businesses to discuss any specific impacts.
    • Traffic shuttle flow will be provided via traffic management onsite.
    • Footpath access will be maintained.

Corner of Wicklow Avenue and Devon Street

From 7.30am, Thursday 11 December to 4pm, Friday 12 December:

  • Formwork stripping and onsite cleaning on the corner of Wicklow Avenue and Devon Street, including the Devon Street cross over and reinstatement of the nature strip.
    • Traffic shuttle flow will be provided via traffic management onsite
    • Footpath access will be maintained.

What to expect

  • There will be some changes to the way you travel around the area while we work. Please take care when moving around the work areas and pay attention to pedestrian and traffic detour signs in place.
  • Traffic management will be in place to assist vehicles and pedestrians around work areas. Some minor delays may be expected at times whilst heavy machinery and vehicle movements take place.
  • These works may include delivery of materials, plant and machinery, road asphalting, reinstatement, and other work activities.
  • You may experience moderate noise from machinery and light from temporary lighting towers.

Please be aware works can sometimes take longer than expected or need to be rescheduled due to weather and other factors outside of our control.
