The dangerous and congested level crossing and roundabout at Coolstore Road, Croydon has been removed with trains now running along the new rail bridge and cars traveling along the new Kent Avenue to Lacey Street road connection.

Some finishing works will take place from Tuesday 2 September to Friday 5 September,  7pm to 4am each night, including road resurfacing, kerb works and line marking.

Traffic flow will be maintained in both directions. Please allow extra time for your journey.


Works taking place in September

Road

Wicklow Avenue

  • Road closed from 7pm, Tuesday 2 September to 4am, Wednesday 3 September for resurfacing and asphalting of the road along 2 sections of the eastbound lane of Wicklow Avenue (between 14 Wicklow Avenue and Alto Avenue).
    • Two-way traffic flow maintained, with pedestrian detours at the intersection of Wicklow Avenue and Devon Street for those crossing north/south on Wicklow Avenue.
    • Set-up of temporary light towers in various locations along Wicklow Avenue.
    • Follow traffic management signage in place during these works.
    • We’ll be in touch with individual properties and businesses to discuss any specific impacts.
  • Road closed from 7pm, Wednesday 3 September to 4am, Thursday 4 September there will be road line marking along Wicklow Avenue between Mount Dandenong Road and Devon Street and on Croydon Road.
    • Pedestrian detours at the intersection of Wicklow Avenue and Devon Street for those crossing north/south on Wicklow Avenue.
    • Two-way traffic flow maintained via traffic management onsite.
    • Minor kerb and pit works at Pierson Drive, Kent Avenue to Lacey Sreet and Railway Crescent.

Wicklow Avenue, Kent Avenue, Lacey Street and Croydon Road intersection

  • Intersection closed from 7pm, Thursday 4 September to 4am, Friday 5 September and from 7pm, Friday 5 September to 4am, Saturday 6 September.
    • There will be kerb works and pit works at the Wicklow Avenue and Kent Avenue intersection, Pierson Drive, Kent Avenue to Lacey Street and Railway Crescent.
    • Two-way traffic flow maintained, with some localised pedestrian impacts.

What to expect

  • There will be some changes to the way you travel around the area while we work. Please take care when moving around the works areas and pay attention to pedestrian and traffic detour signs in place.
  • Traffic management will be in place to assist vehicles and pedestrians around works areas throughout these works. Some minor delays may be expected at times whilst heavy machinery and vehicle movements take place.
  • These works may include delivery of materials, plant and machinery, road asphalting, reinstatement, and other work activities.
  • You may experience moderate noise from machinery and light from temporary lighting towers.

Please be aware works can sometimes take longer than expected or need to be rescheduled due to weather and other factors outside of our control.
