Improved drainage and a new road for Devon Street that connects through to Wicklow Avenue.

We have been working on critical drainage works along Devon Street and Railway Grove which includes the reconstruction of a new road through to Wicklow Avenue in February 2025. In January we will be tying the new drainage into the existing drainage on Main Street.

Devon Street works completed to date:

  • Excavated 780 square metres of materials to a maximum depth of 3.5m.
  • Installed 3 interconnecting flood storage tanks with the largest tank being 31m long and 5.3m wide.
  • Installed 13 new drainage pits.

Works taking place in January and February 2025

Pierson Drive

  • From 7am Tuesday 14 January until 6pm Wednesday 29 January, we will be working night and day on road reinstatement near Railway Grove and Pierson Drive. Intermittent lane closures with traffic management may be required.
    • Bus access is maintained to Croydon Station bus interchange. Pedestrian access will have some localised footpath impacts while bus bays are removed.

Devon Street, Railway Grove and Main Street

  • From 7am Tuesday, 14 January 2025 until mid February, we will continue with drainage tie-in works to Main Street, remove the temporary bus stops in Devon Street and asphalting the road.  Detours will be in place.
  • From 7am on Saturday 18 January until 10am Friday 24 January Devon Street will be closed to vehicle access between Main Street and Pierson Drive and a lane closure will be in place on Main Street.
    • Multi-deck carpark access from Wicklow Avenue and Pierson Drive with some closures at night.
  • From 10am on Friday 24 January until 5pm Wednesday 5 February Devon Street will be closed to vehicle access between Pierson Drive and Main Street. Sections Railway Grove will also be closed while road reinstatement takes place. Traffic management will be in place between Wicklow Avenue and Pierson Drive for line marking.
    • Multi-deck carpark access from Wicklow Avenue, Railway Grove and Pierson Drive, with some closures at night.
  • Pedestrian access will have some localised footpath impacts while bus bays are removed.
  • This work will be carried out in stages to minimise impacts. The community are encouraged to follow traffic management signage in place during these works. Some night works are required to complete this work and minimise access impacts to the multi-deck carpark.
  • We’ll be in touch with individual properties and businesses to discuss any specific impacts and arrangements for parking.

Croydon bus interchange and central station carpark

  • We will be working at night on drainage at the bus interchange from Tuesday 14 January until mid February. During the day we will work in the central carpark. There will be some temporary removal of car spaces

What to expect

  • There will be changes to the way you travel around the area while we work. Please take care when moving around the works areas and pay attention to vehicle and pedestrian detour signage in place.
  • Traffic management will be in place to assist vehicles and pedestrians around works areas throughout these works. Some minor delays may be expected at times whilst heavy machinery and vehicle movements take place.
  • These works may include delivery of materials, plant and machinery, utility relocations, road asphalting, reinstatement and other work activities.
  • Some weekend and night works will be required at different times within this period
  • You may experience moderate noise from machinery.

Please be aware works can sometimes take longer than expected or need to be rescheduled due to weather and other factors outside of our control.
