Work is powering ahead to make the Lilydale Line level crossing free by 2024, a year ahead of schedule.

Construction is well underway to remove the congested level crossing and roundabout by elevating the rail line, building a new Croydon Station and transport hub, and creating new road links to connect Croydon’s town centre.

What we’re doing

As part of the works, there will be deliveries and installation of significant infrastructure, such as the large bridge beams that will form the rail bridge, on Railway Crescent.

To reduce impacts to vegetation and safely undertake these works, we’ll need to trim overhanging branches on some trees on the nature strip. The works will be undertaken by qualified arborists.

Some trees on Railway Crescent still require ongoing investigation as we continue our works. This involves regular inspections by an independent arborist undertaking assessments of the root systems and health of trees during construction works and providing advice about the viability of each tree.

What to expect

Tree trimming will take place between 7am to 6pm from Monday 25 March for up to five days.

Traffic management will be in place for the safety of our workforce, vehicles and pedestrians while tree trimming is underway.

There will be stop/slow traffic management and delays throughout the works. Local access will be maintained at all times.

Please be aware works can sometimes take longer than expected or need to be rescheduled due to weather and other factors outside of our control.
