5 September 2024
We’ve removed the Dublin Road level crossing and opened a new Ringwood East Station, with trains now running along a new rail trench – a year ahead of schedule.
Over the coming months, we’ll finish the second entrance to the station, build the car parks, and undertake minor works around the station precinct throughout spring 2024.
Ongoing works in Ringwood East
Ongoing works include:
- Complete station car parks, bus bays, walkways and station facilities
- Footpath and road reinstatements along Dublin Road, Railway Avenue and Patterson Street
- Landscaping and re-seeding of nature strips
- Removing temporary fencing, barriers and portable sheds from work sites.
Impacts to local roads, footpaths and parking
Railway Avenue west
From Tuesday 17 September until late October:
- Lane closure to construct on-street carparks near army barracks. Traffic management will be in place to enable safe vehicle movements in and out of Railway Ave west at the intersection of Dublin Road.
Patterson Street east
From Tuesday 17 September until Saturday 21 September:
- Section of Patterson St closed (adjacent to the station concourse) to complete public lighting works at the wombat crossing. Detours available via Dublin, Mount Dandenong Road and Bona Street.
- Access to driveways maintained at all times.
Railway Avenue east
Until late 2024:
- Intermittent 'stop and slow' conditions whilst works continue in the station precinct, construction machinery and vehicle movements in and out of the work site, as well as the movement of barriers.
Ringwood East Station car parks
- Some station car park spaces are available in the southern car park, with more sections of car park to open in stages until late 2024. Please continue to observe station signage and direction from onsite traffic management as the car park areas re-open.
What to expect
- Onsite traffic management will be in place to help road users and pedestrians navigate the local area safely.
- Continued presence of workers, truck movements and construction equipment.
- Moderate noise from construction machinery such as concrete trucks and excavators.
- Intermittent ‘stop and slow’ conditions on local streets with traffic management in place to help road users navigate the area.
Please be aware works can sometimes take longer than expected or need to be rescheduled due to weather and other factors outside our control.
There may be times where we’ll need to adjust our works and we’ll advise when this is happening.
