16 September 2024

We’ve removed the Dublin Road level crossing and opened a new Ringwood East Station, with trains now running along a new rail trench – a year ahead of schedule.

Over the coming months, we’ll continue to finish the second entrance to the station, build the car parks, and undertake minor works around the station precinct until spring 2024.

Ongoing works in Ringwood East

Ongoing works include:

  • Complete station car parks, bus bays, walkways and station facilities.
  • Footpath and road reinstatements along Dublin Road, Railway Avenue and Patterson Street.
  • Landscaping and re-seeding of nature strips.
  • Removing temporary fencing, barriers and portable sheds from work sites.

Lilydale Line disruptions in October

We’ll be working around the clock in and around Ringwood East Station and the rail trench whilst trains aren’t running from Friday 11 October until Monday 14 October.

Buses will replace trains on sections of the Lilydale lines for project works from 8.30pm, Friday 11 October until 3am, Monday 14 October.

Plan ahead and visit the PTV website before you travel for information on disruptions.

We’ll be in touch with the community later this month with more information about what to expect.

Railway Avenue works

From 7am to 6pm, Monday 23 September to Saturday 12 October, we’ll be working on completing the driveway to the new commuter carpark at the Wenwood Street and Railway Avenue roundabout. A ‘stop and slow’ shuttle flow with traffic management will be in place, maintaining traffic in both directions.

Impacts to local roads, footpaths and parking

Railway Avenue west

From Tuesday 17 September until late October:

  • Lane closure to construct on-street carparks near army barracks.
  • Traffic management will be in place to enable safe vehicle movements in and out of Railway Ave west at the intersection of Dublin Road.

Railway Avenue east

From 7am to 6pm, Monday 23 September until Saturday 12 October:

  • Shuttle flow through the Wenwood Street roundabout to complete the driveway of the new commuter car park.
  • Traffic maintained in both directions.

Until late 2024:

  • Intermittent 'stop and slow' conditions continue around the station precinct to allow works including moving barriers, machinery and vehicles in and out of the work site.

Patterson Street east

From Tuesday 17 September until Saturday 21 September:

  • Section of Patterson Street closed (adjacent to the station concourse) to complete public lighting works at the wombat crossing.
  • Detours available via Dublin Road, Mount Dandenong Road and Bona Street.
  • Access to driveways maintained at all times.

Ringwood East Station

From 8.30pm, Friday 11 October until 3am, Monday 14 October

  • Access to Ringwood East Station and the pedestrian concourse connection between Railway Avenue and Patterson Street closed day and night to complete works to station canopies and platforms.
  • Pedestrian detour across the rail line available at Dublin Road.
Until late 2024:
  • Some station car park spaces are available in the southern car park, with more sections of car park to open in stages until late 2024. Please continue to observe station signage and direction from onsite traffic management as the car park areas re-open.

What to expect

  • Onsite traffic management will be in place to help road users and pedestrians navigate the local area safely.
  • Some expected delays due to intermittent ‘stop and slow’ shuttle flow conditions on local roads.
  • Continued presence of workers, truck movements and construction equipment.
  • Moderate noise from construction machinery such as concrete trucks and excavators.

Please be aware works can sometimes take longer than expected or need to be rescheduled due to weather and other factors outside our control.

There may be times where we’ll need to adjust our works and we’ll advise when this is happening.
