8 November 2024

We’ve removed the Dublin Road level crossing and opened a new Ringwood East Station – a year ahead of schedule.

Railway Avenue works

From 7am, Monday 11 November to late November, Railway Avenue will be closed to traffic between Laurence Grove and Stanley Avenue.

We'll work day and night to complete:

  • asphalting bus bays and footpaths along Railway Avenue
  • re-asphalting the pedestrian crossing and road
  • line marking.

Bus stops (including for rail replacement buses) on Railway Avenue outside Bendigo Bank and Ringwood East Station will be temporarily relocated to Knaith Road during this time, with some on-street car spaces temporarily closed to facilitate these works.

Pedestrian access to the shops on Railway Avenue and parking behind will be maintained at all times.

Railway Avenue Ringwood East Road closure

Impacts to local roads, footpaths and parking

Railway Avenue East

  • Section of Railway Avenue closed from 7am, Monday 11 November until late November between Laurence Grove and Stanley Avenue, with vehicle detour via Laurence Grove, Knaith Road and Stanley Avenue.
    • Bus stops temporarily relocated to Knaith Road.
    • Temporary pedestrian crossing relocated next to existing crossing.
  • Closed for 1 day in late November.
    • Workforce facilities will need to be removed from their current location next to Railway Avenue and will be timed to coincide with the concurrent road closure between Lawrence Grove and Stanley Street to minimise impact.
    • This will require an extension to the road closure to Dublin Road on the day that these works take place. We will keep Railway Avenue traders informed of the date.
  • Intermittent 'stop and slow' conditions will continue until late 2024 around the station precinct to allow works including moving barriers, machinery and vehicles in and out of the work site.

What to expect

  • On-site traffic management will be in place to help road users and pedestrians navigate the local area safely.
  • Some expected delays due to intermittent ‘stop and slow’ shuttle flow conditions on local roads.
  • Continued presence of workers, truck movements and construction equipment.
  • Increased noise from construction machinery.
  • Works can sometimes take longer than expected or need to be rescheduled and we’ll advise if any changes to works are required.
