All aboard for Keon Park

The boom gates are gone, trains are running and the vibrant new Keon Park Station will open on Friday 21 June, a year ahead of schedule.

Throughout June, a construction blitz is taking place with crews working around the clock to get the Keon Park Station ready for passengers.

The new elevated station will open with passengers accessing the platforms via stairs and a lift while works continue on the second lift and in the station precinct.

The vibrant new station will feature a landscaped forecourt, shelter and lighting, CCTV, a secure Parkiteer bicycle storage and walking and cycling paths through the precinct.

A new signalised pedestrian crossing across High Street at the intersection of Hughes Parade, will provide direct, safer access to the station.

Wide, new paths will connect Johnson Street to the station precinct and through to High Street, providing the community with improved connections between residential and retail areas and transport services.

The new Keon Park Station will open to passengers on Friday 21 June.

Project benefits

  • Keon Parade's level crossing gone for good eliminating more than 40 minutes of boom gates down time in the morning peak
  • New modern Keon Park Station
  • Saving travel time for 18,000 vehicles each weekday
  • Improved safety for drivers, pedestrians and bike riders
  • Increased accessibility to public transport

Greening Keon Park Station

The glossy green facade and green piers aren't the only thing turning green at Keon Park Station.

The expansive landscaped forecourt on Keon Parade and along High Street will provide a green gateway to the station. Landscape architects have carefully selected a variety of trees and plants to bring colour to the revitalised station precinct and enhance biodiversity.

Across this winter and spring we'll plant over 44,500 shrubs and grasses and 200 trees in the area, including:

  • Coral Gums
  • Dwarf Lemon Scented Gums
  • Lilly Pilly
  • Weeping Bottlebrush
  • Flax Lilies
  • Native Fuschia 'Ivory Bells'
  • Mat-rush 'Tanika'
  • Australian Saltbush

When Keon Park Station opens on Friday 21 June, the platforms will be accessible via the northern lift and stairs near Keon Parade.

Until August, works will continue around the station precinct, including on the High Street and Keon Parade car parks and installation of the additional lift and stairs. While these works continue, temporary changes to station access will be in place. In the expansive forecourt, landscaping will continue until spring.

Tasty treats on Keon Parade

Al Amera Lebanese Bakery in Reservoir serves top-notch Middle Eastern dishes.

Owned by the Jumaa family from Syria, who fled to Australia 5 years ago, the bakery is a local favourite.

Hanan, Fayez, Sari, Jema, Sadi Fadi and his wife Soha work together to create authentic dishes that include Zaatar pizzas, Sujuk, and Shanklish, which are popular with customers. Jema is often seen at the counter and proudly notes that customers come from far and wide.

Taking over the business 3 years ago, the family has recently renovated the bakery, adding a modern touch.

Meals are prepared daily, and prices range from $3.50 to $15 – with freshly brewed coffee and delivery via Uber Eats also available.

A short walk from the new Keon Park Station, the bakery is located at 147 Keon Parade, Reservoir, and is open 7 days a week from 6.30am to 3pm.
