Keon Park Station is complete
The boom gates are gone, Keon Park Station and its car parks are open, and planting has been completed.
The dangerous and congested Keon Parade level crossing has been removed by building a 750m rail bridge over the road, improving journey times and increasing safety.
The brand-new Keon Park Station opened in June on the southern side of Keon Parade, with modern facilities for passengers.
A new signalised pedestrian crossing across High Street at the intersection of Hughes Parade, provides direct, safer access to the station for pedestrians and bike riders.
We've also improved station access with new wide paths linking Johnson Street to the station precinct and through to High Street, providing better connections to local neighbourhoods, JC Donath Reserve, buses and Johnson Street shops, cafés, and eateries.
The station precinct is a welcoming green space with more than 44,500 shrubs and grasses and 200 trees planted throughout.

Keon Park is in bloom
We're installing a new art piece called Dianella Dwelling by Joanne Mott later this year.
Standing 4.5m tall and stretching 3m wide, Dianella Dwelling is a large interactive sculpture, reminiscent of a gazebo, that celebrates the endangered Dianella amoena flower.
An immersive piece, the installation encourages community gathering and interaction with the artwork.
Located on the High Street side of the station precinct near the new pedestrian connections, the sculpture will be surrounded by native plants, including species of Dianella.
It's a green bill of health for Keon Park Station
The new expansive landscaped forecourt on Keon Parade and High Street provides a vibrant, nature-filled entry to the station.
Over the past few months, we've planted more than 44,500 shrubs and grasses and 200 trees to brighten up the area and support biodiversity.
The landscaping scheme reflects the community’s preference for a combination of native trees, shrubs and flowering plants.
Cross High Street safely with new lights
A new signalised pedestrian crossing across High Street at the intersection of Hughes Parade has been switched on to make it safer and easier to cross High Street to get to Keon Park Station.
The crossing provides for safer access to the station precinct for pedestrians and bike riders.
Keon's key to sustainability
Keon Park Station was built with sustainability front of mind. We partnered with suppliers to find new and innovative sustainable and recycled materials.
Some of these elements you can see at Keon Park Station are:
- Parkiteer floor made using recycled plastic void-forming ‘cones’, allowing for a 38% reduction in concrete where cones are utilised
- Recycled plastic aggregates used in pavements
- Bench seats made without cement resulting in a 90% reduction in carbon emissions
- Tree stakes made from recycled plastic
- Recycled glass used in coloured bus lanes and bike paths.
These elements have made Keon Park Station eco-friendly, and we have introduced creative solutions to implement in future projects.
Johnson Street Café
The new Keon Park Station is only a walk away from local businesses.
Johnson Street has a variety of traders, including cafes, restaurants, beauty parlours, small grocers, a tool shop and even clothing alterations and dry cleaning.
Located right beside the station on Keon Parade you'll find Johnson Street Cafe, open 7 days a week.
From coffee, tea and milkshakes to loaded cookie dough, pastries, cake and even better mocktails and acai bowls too, Johnson Street Café has it all.
