19 September 2023
We’re removing the dangerous and congested level crossing at Keon Parade by building a rail bridge over the road and a brand-new Keon Park Station.
From Friday 22 September to end of October, cranes will be installing L-beams weighing 122 tonnes each, onto concrete columns that will support the rail bridge. Pairs of L-beams will be joined together to form 32 U-shaped troughs for the trains to run in on the elevated rail line.
Keon Parade closure and 24/7 works
Keon Parade will be closed at the level crossing, when we’ll work day and night to lift the L-beams into place from:
- 9pm Wednesday 4 October to 5am Monday 9 October
- 9pm Thursday 12 October to 5am Friday 13 October
Some 902 bus stops will be closed. A shuttle bus will be in place to connect passengers with PTV buses.
Johnson Street northbound lane will be closed between Arundel Avenue and Keon Parade. Detour via Arundel Avenue and Finton Grove.
For your safety, please follow signage and instructions from traffic management when travelling around the area.
Every effort will be made to complete these works on schedule; dates are subject to change.
What to expect
- 24/7 works, including overnight deliveries
- Large cranes installed on Keon Parade and within the rail corridor
- Increased lighting along the rail corridor
- Moderate level of noise, vibration and dust
