27 June 2025

We’re making the Pakenham Line level crossing free by 2025, removing 22 dangerous level crossings to improve safety, reduce congestion and run more trains more often.

The dangerous level crossing at Progress St, Dandenong South has now been permanently closed and a new road bridge connecting Progress Street to Fowler Road completed, which will provide businesses with safer access to the South Gippsland Highway.

What we’re doing

During June and July, works continue to upgrade and signalise the Fowler Road and South Gippsland Highway intersection.

Works are also continuing to provide indented parking along Fowler Road.

General work hours are from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 3pm Saturdays, with out of hour works occurring from 6pm to 6am Sunday to Friday, at times.
