7 April 2025

We’re making the Pakenham Line level crossing free by 2025, removing 22 dangerous level crossings to improve safety, reduce congestion and run more trains more often.

As part of the Progress Street Level Crossing Removal Project, works are continuing to build the new road bridge, connecting Progress Street and Fowler Road.

What we’re doing

In April, we’ll continue works along Progress Street, Fowler Road, Nathan Road and Hallam Valley Road. Works will include:

  • road closure and roundabout construction at the Nathan Road cul-de-sac
  • service relocations and connections on Hallam Valley Road and Nathan Road
  • line marking and No Parking/Standing signage installation on Hallam Valley Road and Round Tower Road
  • water mains investigations, excavations, drilling and pipe installation on Fowler Road
  • upgrade of existing street lighting on Fowler Road
  • service investigations and temporary driveway construction works for access to properties on Progress Street
  • service investigations, excavation and drainage work on Progress Street.
