13 June 2025

We’re making the Pakenham Line level crossing free by 2025, removing 22 dangerous level crossings to improve safety, reduce congestion and run more trains more often.

As part of the Progress Street Level Crossing Removal Project, works are continuing to connect Progress Street to the new Fowler Road bridge.

What we’re doing

During June and July, we’ll continue works along Progress Street, Fowler Road, and South Gippsland Highway. Works will include:

  • the permanent closure of the Progress Street level crossing and removal of associated infrastructure, including boom gates and lights from 7pm, Friday 13 June
  • water main relocations, drainage works and property connections on Fowler Road
  • utility relocation and intersection configuration work at the corner of Fowler Road and South Gippsland Highway.

General work hours are from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 3pm, Saturdays with out of hour works occurring from 6pm to 6am, Sunday to Friday at times.
