7 January 2025
We’re making the Pakenham Line level crossing free by 2025, removing 22 dangerous and congested level crossings.
What we’re doing
In December 2024, we opened the new southern roundabout to traffic at Kenilworth Avenue. In January and February 2025, we’ll continue building the new road bridge and northern carpark.
From Tuesday 14 January 2025, we’ll continue works north and south of the rail corridor and on the new road bridge, including:
- bridge painting, kerb and barrier installation
- public lighting installation
- landscaping
- footpath works
- earthworks to remove hardstand on the south side of Kenilworth Avenue
Works will take place Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm and Saturday 7am to 3pm. At times, we’ll need to work out of hours to complete these works. Where possible, disruptive works will be scheduled for earlier in the day to minimise impacts to locals. Impacted residents will be notified directly prior to works commencing.
What to expect
- Construction activity, noise, and vibration.
- Detours and reduced speed limits.
- Intermittent shuttle flow traffic arrangements on Beaconsfield Avenue and Kenilworth Avenue.
- Working hours Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm and Saturday 7am to 3pm, with out of hours works at times.
Traffic management will be in place for the safety of the community and our workforce. Please follow the signs and instructions when travelling around the project area.
Every effort will be made to complete these works to schedule; however dates and times are subject to change.
