In May 2024, Station Street, Officer was closed as part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to make the Pakenham Line boom gate free by 2025.

Works at Station Street, Officer will continue until late 2024 to build footpath and shared use path connections, as well as planting 3000 new trees shrubs and grasses.

Station Street and Officer South Road vehicle access across the railway has been permanently closed. Traffic is redirected to alternate routes via the new Brunt Road bridge and Siding Avenue.

What we're doing

  • Installing solar powered lighting and permanent signage in the surrounding area.
  • Installing new service connections in the area.
  • Planting over 3000 plants, trees, shrubs and grasses.
  • Removing temporary traffic barriers and temporary construction facilities.

Council works and new shared use path construction

The project will continue to work closely with Cardinia Shire Council to complete a new pedestrian path north of the rail line and provide a new shared use path along Officer South Road, improving safety and access to Officer Station.

What to expect

  • Increased construction personnel, vehicles, and equipment in the area.
  • Permanent road closure in place, use alternative routes.
  • Traffic management including reduced speed limits and intermittent lane closures in place at times, please expect minor delays.
  • Local pedestrian footpath detours maybe in place at times, please follow directional signage in place.
  • General working hours are Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and Saturday from 7am to 3pm.

All businesses on Officer South Road remain open and accessible to vehicle traffic via Bridge Road and Rix Road.
