7 May 2025
We’re upgrading Ballarat Station to improve accessibility, safety, and connectivity for all public transport users, while considering the heritage of the station.
We’re committed to delivering an accessible pedestrian overpass, with a lift and stairs to each platform, and an upgrade to the northern station entrance in 2026.
We’re continuing major construction at the station. Piling works are now complete, and we have begun installing the concrete foundation supports for the lifts, stairs and pedestrian overpass.
What we’re doing
In May and June 2025, we’ll:
- install the concrete columns and crosshead supports for the pedestrian overpass
- work on the foundations for the lift shaft and stairs on both sides of the rail line
- install underground services in and around the station precinct
- close the main northern entrance to the station, located near Railway Parade and remove the existing steps and glass door
- install a new accessible ramp, stairs and an automatic swing door at this entrance
- landscape the area around the new northern station entrance with a mix of native flowering and native ground plants
What to expect
While we work in Ballarat Station you may experience:
- moderate noise levels
- minimal vibration
- construction vehicles in our project site areas and surrounding roads
When we’ll work
We’ll work:
- Monday to Friday – 7am to 6pm
- Saturdays as required – 7am to 1pm
Changes to the way you travel
We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule however dates are subject to change.
