Your upgraded Diamond Creek Station precinct

The second stage of the Hurstbridge Line Duplication delivers further improvements for Melbourne’s north east, including more train services, less crowding on peak trains and better connections to public transport.

The upgraded Diamond Creek Station precinct will remain in the heart of Diamond Creek village and will improve connections, reliability and safety in the community.

Works across Diamond Creek have included widening Platform 2 to meet modern safety and accessibility standards, installation of passenger shelters and constructing a new ramp connecting platform 2 with the upgraded pedestrian crossing.

We have also delivered a new signalised pedestrian crossing at Parkway Drain, behind Diamond Valley Secondary College, providing safer community connections.

Across the project, we have built 2 new modern stations at Greensborough and Montmorency and duplicated the rail track between Greensborough and Montmorency and between Diamond Creek and Wattle Glen, allowing more trains to run more often.

The upgraded Diamond Creek Station precinct is now ready for passenger use.

Works required to close out the project will be completed by the end of this year.

More trains, more often

From Sunday 28 May 2023, there will be a new timetable on the Hurstbridge Line.

There will be an additional:

  • Two early weekday AM services from Hurstbridge
  • One AM peak service from Hurstbridge
  • Two AM counter peak services from Flinders Street
  • One weekday PM service from Flinders Street
  • One weekday peak PM service from Flinders Street
  • One weekday PM counter peak service from Hurstbridge

Timetables and more information is available on the PTV website, PTV’s journey planner app and on the Metro Trains Melbourne website.

Easier access from one side to the other of Diamond Creek

The pedestrian crossing at Diamond Creek Station is the primary corridor route between Platform 1 and Platform 2, connecting locals from one side of Diamond Creek to the other. It also connects the bus interchange and shopping centre.

As part of our works, we have upgraded the existing pedestrian crossing to enable better and safer access between the 2 station platforms. The upgraded crossing also includes ramps to meet current accessibility and safety standards.

Making Diamond Creek safer for students

For many years, there has been an informal pedestrian path crossing the rail line behind Diamond Valley College. This has been used by students and the broader community.

As part of the Hurstbridge Line Duplication, we have built a new signalised pedestrian crossing and path.

This provides the vital missing link connecting locals to the Diamond Creek Trail and Main Hurstbridge Road.

Importantly, this new pedestrian link will deliver a safer and more accessible option for crossing the rail line. Automatic gates will close and activate noise control warnings when trains approach.
