16 April 2026
We’re getting ready to run longer 9-car VLocity trains on the Melton Line from 2027, one year ahead of schedule. Running longer trains will boost passenger capacity by 50% during peak services.
To allow the longer trains to stop along the line, we’re extending the platforms at Rockbank and Cobblebank stations.
From Monday 20 April to early August, we’re undertaking construction site establishment works within the rail corridor and in the Cobblebank Station and Rockbank Station precincts. These sites will be in place until late 2026. Please see maps below.
Works will be conducted during regular construction hours of 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm on Saturdays.
What we’re doing
- Setting up a temporary site office and utilities.
- Installing temporary fencing.
- Locating underground services.
- Vegetation removal.
What to expect
Rockbank
- An increase in construction vehicles entering the site off Leakes Road.
- An increase in noise, dust and vibration.
Traffic management will be in place to help you move around the area. Access to Rockbank Station will be maintained at all times.
