Longer 9-car VLocity trains will be able to run on the Melton Line next year, one year ahead of schedule. Running longer trains will boost passenger capacity by 50% during peak services.

To allow the longer trains to stop along the line, we’re extending the platforms at Cobblebank and Rockbank stations. To house the new trains we’re building a new train stabling yard in Cobblebank, 700m east of the new Melton Station.

We’re working 24/7 in the rail corridor and at Cobblebank and Rockbank stations from Wednesday 22 July to Monday 27 July.

What we’re doing

• Earthworks and excavation
• Construction foundation works
• Drainage and underground service installation
• Vegetation removal at Rockbank and Cobblebank stations
• Rail track works within the rail corridor at Rockbank and Cobblebank stations

What to expect

• Works taking place 24/7 with an increase in noise, lighting and construction vehicles moving around the area
• Temporary closure of up to 70 car parking spaces at Rockbank Station

We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule; however, dates and times are subject to change.

Changes to the way you travel

While we complete these works, there will be service changes on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines with buses replacing trains from 10pm, Wednesday 22 July to last service, Sunday 26 July.
