6 July 2026

Longer 9-car VLocity trains will be able to run on the Melton Line next year, one year ahead of schedule. Running longer trains will boost passenger capacity by 50% during peak services.

To house the new trains we’re building a new train stabling yard in Cobblebank, 700m east of the new Melton Station.

We’ll work 24 hours a day at the stabling yard from Wednesday 22 July to Monday 27 July.

What we’re doing

  • Earthworks and excavation
  • Construction foundation works
  • Drainage and underground service installation

What to expect

Works 24 hours a day with an increase in noise, lighting and construction vehicles moving around the area.

We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule; however, dates and times are subject to change.

Changes to the way you travel

While we complete these works, there will be service changes on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines with buses replacing trains from 10pm, Wednesday 22 July to last service, Sunday 26 July.

Please allow extra travel time. For more information and to plan your journey, visit Transport Victoria.
