We’re getting ready to run longer nine-car VLocity trains on the Melton Line from 2027, one year ahead of schedule. Running longer trains will boost passenger capacity by 50% during peak services.

What we’re doing

We’ll be working at night and in and around the rail corridor at Cobblebank and Rockbank stations and at the Cobblebank stabling yard from 9pm to 4am each night from Sunday 11 October to Tuesday 13 October.
We will also be working 24 hours a day in and around the rail corridor at Cobblebank and Rockbank stations and at the Cobblebank stabling yard from 10pm, Friday 16 October to 4am, Monday 19 October.

Works include:

  • platform asphalting and line marking
  • installation of station services
  • removal of temporary buildings
  • landscaping
  • track drainage
  • earthworks.

What to expect

  • Works taking place at night and 24 hours a day.
  • Additional construction vehicles and workers in the area.
  • An increase in noise and traffic movement in the area.
  • Additional lighting during night works.

Traffic management and signage will be in place to help you move around the area. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained.

We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule; however, dates and times are subject to change.

Changes to the way you travel

Rail

While we complete these works, there will be service changes on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines.

Coaches replacing evening trains between Southern Cross Station and Wendouree from:

  • 9pm, Sunday 11 October to last service, Tuesday 13 October
  • 10pm, Friday 16 October to 4am, Monday 19 October.

Coaches replace all trains between Bacchus Marsh Station and Caroline Springs Station from:

  • first service, Saturday 17 October until last service, Sunday 18 October.
