4 August 2025

We’re getting ready to run longer nine-car VLocity trains on the Melton Line from 2028.

As part of the $650 million Melton Line Upgrade, we’re building a new stabling yard in Cobblebank, approximately 700m east of the new Melton Station, to house the new trains. We’ll also carry out works at stations along the Melton Line to get ready for the new 9-car VLocity trains.

As part of early site investigations, we’re undertaking works to help us understand local conditions and support the planning of the project.

What we’re doing

Workers will be collecting soil samples within the rail corridor from 9pm to 4am on Monday 4 August.

We’re also testing the ground conditions next to the rail corridor at Deer Park Station each day from 7am to 6pm, from Monday 11 August to Friday 15 August.

What to expect

  • A minor increase in noise, and additional traffic movements and construction workers in the area
  • Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.

We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule, however dates are subject to change
