12 May 2026
We’re getting ready to run longer 9-car VLocity trains on the Melton Line from 2027, one year ahead of schedule. Running longer trains will boost passenger capacity by 50% during peak services.
To allow the longer trains to stop along the line, we’ve extended the platforms at Caroline Springs Station with completion works getting underway in May.
We’ll be working at Caroline Springs Station and around the rail corridor 24/7 from 10pm, Tuesday 26 May to 4am, Saturday 30 May.
What we’re doing
- Asphalting the platforms
- Installing line marking and tactiles
- Installing permanent platform fencing
What to expect
- Works taking place 24 hours a day with an increase in noise, lighting, construction vehicles, traffic movement and workers in the area.
- Traffic management and pedestrian detours in place to assist drivers, pedestrians and bike riders.
- Temporary car space closures in the Caroline Springs Station car park.
We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule; however, dates and times are subject to change.
Changes to the way you travel
While we complete these works, there will be service changes on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines with buses replacing trains from 10pm, Tuesday 26 May to last service, Friday 29 May.
Please allow extra travel time. For more information and to plan your journey, visit Transport Victoria.
