24 January 2025

We’re building a brand-new station in Tarneit’s west, as part of a commitment from the Victorian Government to better connect the growing suburbs in Melbourne’s west.

To be located near Davis and Leakes roads, the new station will include a pedestrian underpass, a 4-bay bus interchange and parking for up to 400 commuters.

We need to conduct further site investigation works as we further develop the designs for the new station and prepare for construction. As part of these investigations, we will survey the ground conditions in the project area. This work helps the project team understand the makeup of the soil and rock under the surface of the ground. Some of these works will take place at night, while trains aren’t running.

What we’re doing

As part of these works, we’ll:

  • investigate the type of material in the rail corridor and surrounding land
  • create bore holes for soil testing using a drill rig
  • transport large equipment and machines in and out of site
  • uncover underground services using a non-destructive digging truck.

What to expect

While we work, you can expect:

  • equipment including excavators, specialised rail equipment, lighting towers for the night works, work crews and worker vehicles, and trucks.
  • medium levels of noise, both during the day and night shifts.

Where we’ll work

Works will occur in the rail corridor between Derrimut Road and Davis Road. The rail equipment will access the rail corridor to the east of Leo Avenue. Other main access points to the work site will be via Leakes Road and Tarneit Road.

When we’ll work

From Monday 10 February until early March, we’ll be working Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm.

From Sunday 16 to Tuesday 18 February, we’ll be working overnight (7pm to 5am) in the rail corridor.
