We’re removing the level crossings at Old Calder Highway and Watsons Road, Diggers Rest, improving local safety, and making the Sunbury Line level crossing-free in 2025.

We have started preparing the Old Calder Highway level crossing removal site for major construction later in the year, including setting up site offices and designating safe access areas for the project team.

To support this work, we will close parking spaces in the Diggers Rest Station car park from Wednesday 5 June to late 2025.

What we’re doing

During these works, we will:

• Install site fencing and build a site office in the Diggers Rest Station western car park
• Designate areas for the project team to safely access the work site.

When we’ll work

• Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm
• Saturdays, 7am to 1pm, as required

What to expect

You may notice noise, dust and vibration during these works. You may also notice construction vehicles and trucks on roads likes Old Calder Highway, Diggers Rest-Coimadai Road, Tame Street, School Lane and in the Diggers Rest Station car parks.

Changes to the way you travel

For your safety, please follow signage and traffic management in place. Please see the works map below for more information about the following travel changes.

Diggers Rest Station car park

• Some spaces in the western car park (near the southern end) will be closed.
• Some spaces in the western and eastern car parks will be designated as safe access areas for the project team.
• Unavailable spaces will be signed.
