18 April 2024
We’re removing the level crossings at Old Calder Highway and Watsons Road, Diggers Rest, improving local safety, and making the Sunbury Line level crossing-free in 2025. Construction to remove the level crossings will begin soon.
Thank you for your patience as we’ve carried out site investigation works recently near the Old Calder Highway level crossing. We need to carry out further works in the area in May and June 2024. Access to private properties will be maintained at all times.
What we’re doing
We’ll conduct utility service location and surveying works on the road reserve along Old Calder Highway, near Diggers Rest Station and the level crossing, and on the road reserve along Diggers Rest-Coimadai Road near Diggers Rest Station and the level crossing. We will also work in the rail corridor near the Old Calder Highway level crossing and Diggers Rest Station.
Please view the works area map below to see where we’ll be working.
When we’ll work
We'll work:
- in the map area intermittently on weekdays only from Wednesday 1 May to Friday 28 June 2024 between 7am – 6pm
What to expect
While we work, you may notice:
- work crews, construction vehicles (including trucks) and digging equipment in the area
- temporary fencing around the work areas to ensure safety of the community and our crews
- low to moderate noise while we conduct these works.
Changes to the way you travel
From Wednesday 1 May to Friday 28 June 2024, there will be intermittent and temporary lane closures during off-peak hours (9:30am – 3:30pm) on Old Calder Highway and Diggers Rest-Coimadai Road.
Travel in both directions will be maintained at all times and traffic management will be in place to guide motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians through the area during these lane closures.
