Major construction commencing in July 2017

Major works will commence on Friday, 28 July to remove the dangerous and congested level crossing at Camp Road, Campbellfield.

Prior to these works, you may notice the removal of nearby vegetation and some minor weekend lane closures. During this time traffic management and signage will be in place. Every effort will be made to minimise disruptions to local traffic and commuters and we will keep you informed as works progress.

Early works near the level crossing on Camp Road commenced in mid June which involved locating underground services such as water, power and gas services, establishing the site office between Thompson Street and Sunshine Street, and the installation of new railway signalling infrastructure. Local businesses continue to operate as normal, with vehicle and pedestrian access maintained.

Info and Jobs Hub

The interactive Info and Jobs Hub is set to open in August.

We will work with local social, training and employment providers to assist disadvantaged job seekers, people with a disability and Indigenous Victorians identify skills training and job opportunities.

Members of the local community interested in working on the project or providing goods and services will be able to drop in and meet directly with the project team to express their interest. Overall, our aim is for 10% of all work on the project to be delivered by apprentices, trainees and cadets.

Supporting local businesses

In the lead up to our major works and throughout the project, we will support local business through a range of communication and promotion initiatives.

We will work with local businesses on an “Open for Business” campaign and we encourage you to continue shopping local to support your community.
