Kororoit Creek Road – Williamstown
We’re removing the Maddox Road and Champion Road level crossings to make Newport boom gate free - improving safety, creating more reliable travel times and preparing for more trains, more often.
What we’re doing
We’re upgrading the Maddox Road–Kororoit Creek Road intersection by extending the right-turn lane, improving signals and adding a U-turn. We’re also upgrading signals at the Adeline Street pedestrian crossing.
Road impacts and out of hours works
Kororoit Creek Road and Maddox Road intersection
- Lane closures from 7am to 6pm, Monday 16 to Friday 20 February and 24/7 works from Tuesday 24 February to Friday 6 March. Detours in place.
- Cyclist lane and parking closures in place with traffic mangement on site to help you move safely through the area Bike riders to use regular traffic lane.
Kororoit Creek Road and Adeline Street intersection
- Lance closures in place from 7pm to 5am, Thursday 26 February to Monday 2 March. Traffic controllers will be on site to assist pedestrian at the crossings.
- Dedicated right turn to access businesses at the Rifle Range shops will temporarily close. Access will be via Rifle Range Drive and Bates Drive.
We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule. However, dates may change due to weather and other factors outside our control. Please monitor traffic signage in the area for updates. Sign up for SMS and email updates to stay informed.

What to expect
- Our general working hours are Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm.
- At times throughout February, works will be undertaken outside general working hours to reduce disruptions to roads and businesses.
- Reduced speed limits and traffic management. Follow signage for local detours.
- Temporary impacts to footpaths and on-street parking.
- An increase in construction noise, vibration and dust.
