The growing communities of Melbourne’s west will have better access to public transport with a new and accessible Tottenham Station as part of the Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1: West Footscray to Albion Rail Upgrade.
Funded by the Australian and Victorian governments, works to build a new Tottenham Station will get underway in 2027.
The new station will feature a dedicated pedestrian underpass, separated from Ashley Street, providing easier and safer connections to the station from both sides of the busy rail lines.
The location of the new station will involve a minor change so it continues to service the Sunbury Line, with trains running direct through to the Metro Tunnel.
The new station will be delivered as part of the West Footscray to Albion Rail Upgrade, the first stage of Melbourne Airport Rail.
Works will span more than 6km and will untangle Melbourne's most complex rail junction outside the CBD, unlocking capacity for more than 1000 daily train services through Sunshine.
Detailed planning and design work is now underway, with concept designs of the new Tottenham Station to be released later in 2026.
