To help deliver Melbourne Airport Rail, the Albion Station car park located on Sydney Street will be closed from January 2023 until early 2025.

This closure is required for the safety of work force and the public.

What we are doing

  • Setting up a temporary work zone in the western car park of Albion Station
  • Earth works using crushed rock, excavators, and compaction rollers to make the ground ready to support heavy construction equipment
  • Installing fencing
  • Trenching and boring under the rail corridor to install conduits for underground services
  • Installing a low voltage electrical cabinet
  • In addition to the works above, further construction impacts in this area will be notified for separately as the project progresses.

What to be aware of

  • The Sydney Street car park will be closed with alternative parking available on in the eastern side of the station, including accessible parking. Please follow station signage in place
  • At times during this closure, there will be impacts to the eastern car park. Please follow station signage and information for alternative parking
  • From 18 January 175 car spaces will be temporarily closed in the eastern car park
  • A detour to the eastern car park will be in place via Ballarat Road Pedestrian access to Albion Station from Sydney Street will be maintained
  • For the safety of workers, lighting and CCTV will be installed around the site While the car park is closed it will be used for construction works, delivery and storage of construction equipment and materials. There will be an increase in vehicles entering and exiting the area via Ballarat Road Service Road.

When

  • The car park will be closed 24 hours a day, 7 days per week from 18 January 2023 to early 2025

Construction works

  • 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • 7am to 1pm, Saturday
  • In addition to normal construction hours, this site will be used to support out of hours works as required. Nearby residents will be informed before any periods of out of hours works take place.
