Sunshine Station carpark map
We are delivering stage 1 of Melbourne Airport Rail , with the Australian and Victorian governments investing more than $4 billion to deliver 6 km of major rail upgrades from West Footscray to Albion. The works will include transforming Sunshine into a transport superhub and building new modern and accessible stations at Tottenham and Albion.
In late August and early September we will relocate underground gas services in the Sunshine Station precinct.
What we're doing
- Boring and digging trenches to relocate gas services.
What to expect
- Work crews, machinery and construction vehicles (including trucks) in the area.
- Low, medium and high levels of construction noise at various times, as well as dust and vibration.
- Lighting in place when we work at night.
When we'll work
Standard working hours
- Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm
- Saturdays, 7am to 1pm
Night works
We will undertake the following night works in Sunshine:
- Working 8pm to 6am each night from Sunday 30 August to Thursday 3 September (5 nights).
These works have been scheduled at night to avoid disrupting daytime traffic.
Changes to the way you travel
For your safety, please follow signage and traffic management in place.
Road
- Laneway between City Place businesses and Hampshire Road overpass will be partially closed with no vehicle or pedestrian access from Sun Crescent, from 8pm, Sunday 30 August to 6pm, Friday 11 September. Half of the laneway will remain open with access from the rail line side. Rubbish collections will not be affected.
- Sun Crescent will be closed where it meets Hampshire Road from 8pm to 6am each night, from Sunday 30 August to Thursday 3 September (5 nights). Light vehicles detoured via Hampshire Road, Corio Street, Watt Street and Durham Road. Heavy vehicles detoured via Hampshire Road, Derby Road, Anderson Road and Durham Road. Please follow the detours and directions on the temporary signs. Bus services will not be affected.
Pedestrian
- Sun Crescent footpath closed from 8pm to 6am each night, from Sunday 30 August to Thursday 3 September (5 nights). Pedestrians detour via footpaths on Hampshire Road, Corio Street, Watt Street and Durham Road.
