Rescheduled water connection works in Sunshine

We are delivering stage 1 of Melbourne Airport Rail , with the Australian and Victorian governments investing more than $4 billion to deliver 6 km of major rail upgrades from West Footscray to Albion. The works will include transforming Sunshine into a transport superhub and building new modern and accessible stations at Tottenham and Albion.

Water connection works scheduled for late July have been delayed and will now take place between Tuesday 4  August to Friday 7 August.

What we're doing

  • Digging trenches to relocate water services.
  • Testing and connecting new water services.

What to expect

  • Work crews, machinery and construction vehicles (including trucks) in the area.
  • Low, medium and high levels of construction noise at various times, as well as dust and vibration.
  • Lighting in place when we work at night.

Service outage

  • There will be planned interruptions to water supply overnight on Tuesday 4 August, Wednesday 5 August and Thursday 6 August.
  • Greater Western Water will inform properties impacted by outages in advance.

When we'll work

We will undertake the following night works in Sunshine:

  • Working 7pm to 7am each night from Tuesday 4 August to Friday 7 August (4 nights)

These works have been scheduled at night to avoid disrupting daytime traffic.

Changes to the way you travel

For your safety, please follow signage and traffic management in place.

Road

  • Sun Crescent between Durham Road and Watt Street closed northbound from 7pm to 7am each night, Tuesday 4 August to Friday 7 August (4 nights).
    • Light vehicles detoured via Watt Street and heavy vehicles via Anderson Road and Durham Road. Please follow the detours and directions on the temporary signs.
    • Southbound lane on Sun Crescent will remain open and bus services will not be affected.
  • City Place closed from 10pm to 5am each night, Tuesday 4 August to Thursday 6 August (3 nights).
    • Detour in place via the station car park and Sun Crescent. Please follow the vehicle detour and directions on the temporary signs.
    • Approximately 12 on-street car spaces will be closed overnight during these works.

Pedestrian

  • Sun Crescent footpath (west side) will be partially closed overnight on the western side of Sun Crescent from 7pm to 7am each night, Tuesday 4 August to Friday 7 August (4 nights). Please follow the detours and directions on the temporary signs.

Parking

  • Sun Crescent on-street parking between Durham Road and Watt Street (beside northbound lane) will close from 7pm to 7am each night, Tuesday 4 August to Friday 7 August (4 nights).
    • Businesses will remain open, please use on-street parking beside the southbound lane and other parking close by.
