We are delivering stage 1 of Melbourne Airport Rail, with the Australian and Victorian governments investing more than $4 billion to deliver 6km of major rail upgrades from West Footscray to Albion. The works will include transforming Sunshine into a transport superhub and building new modern and accessible stations at Tottenham and Albion.

We're conducting site investigations on the Hampshire Road bridge at night on Monday 19 October and Tuesday 20 October.

What we’re doing

  • We’re closing the Hampshire Road bridge to vehicles from 7pm, Monday 19 October to 7am, Tuesday 20 October and 10pm, Tuesday 20 October to 5am, Wednesday 21 October.

What to expect

  • Traffic management with a detour in place for vehicles.
  • Work crews, machinery and construction vehicles in the area.
  • Low to moderate levels of construction noise at times, as well as dust and vibration.
  • Lighting in place to help with crews work at night.

Changes to the way you travel

  • The Hampshire Road bridge will be closed to vehicles with a detour via Anderson Road over the rail line. Please allow extra time for travel.
  • Emergency services and PTV bus services will be allowed across the Hampshire Road bridge during the closure.
  • Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times. We’ll make every effort to complete works on time however, dates are subject to change.
