We are delivering stage 1 of Melbourne Airport Rail, with the Australian and Victorian governments investing more than $4 billion to deliver 6km of major rail upgrades from West Footscray to Albion. The works will include transforming Sunshine into a transport superhub and building new modern and accessible stations at Tottenham and Albion.

From Thursday 5 November, 2 sections of the shared path between Sunshine and Tottenham stations will be closed at times as part of service relocation works.

What we're doing

• Digging a trench beside a small section of the shared path south of Sunshine Station and within 87 Parsons Street to lay new telecommunications conduits
• Excavating and drilling in a section of the shared path in Braybrook to relocate electricity underground services

What to expect

So that works can take place safely, 2 sections of shared path will close from early November:

• Thursday 5 November to Tuesday 22 December – shared path between Holzer and Teague crescents, Braybrook closed
• Thursday 5 November to mid December – shared path adjacent to Drayton Street/Station Place, Sunshine closed

You may also notice:

• Work crews, machinery and construction vehicles (including trucks) in the area – around the Sunshine and Braybrook work areas
• Medium levels of construction noise at various times, as well as dust and vibration
• Traffic management to safely facilitate works

Works will take place during standard working hours:

• Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm
• Saturdays, 7am to 1pm (as required)

Changes to the way you travel

Pedestrians and cyclists

Shared path south of Sunshine Station, parallel to Station Place and Drayton Street, Sunshine from 7am, Thursday 5 November to mid December:

• A section of Sunshine Rail shared path parallel to Station Place and Drayton Street will be closed 24/7 (see map below).
• Pedestrians and cyclists can follow the signed detour along Station Place and Drayton Street.

Shared path near Braybrook Grasslands, between Holzer and Teague crescents, Braybrook from 7am, Thursday 5 November to 5pm, Tuesday 22 December:

• A section of Sunshine Rail shared path between Holzer and Teague crescents will be closed 24/7 (see map below).
• Pedestrians and cyclists can follow the signed detours along Royal Road and Teague Crescent.

Parking

Cole Street, Braybrook on weekdays, 7am to 6pm and Saturdays, 7am to 1pm (as required) from Thursday 5 November until 5pm, Tuesday 22 December:

• During works hours, on-street car parking will be unavailable on the southern section of Cole Street. Traffic management will be in place so that machinery can safely enter the area.
• Private property access will be maintained at all times.

Royal Road, Braybrook from 7am, Thursday 5 November to 5pm, Tuesday 22 December:

• Around 5 on-street car parking spaces will be unavailable on the southern section of Royal Road, near the corner of Teague Crescent. These need to close to facilitate the cyclist detour during the shared path closure.
