We are delivering stage 1 of Melbourne Airport Rail, with the Australian and Victorian governments investing more than $4 billion to deliver 6km of major rail upgrades from West Footscray to Albion. The works will include transforming Sunshine into a transport superhub and building new modern and accessible stations at Tottenham and Albion.

From Wednesday 1 July, site establishment near Tottenham Station will begin as we prepare for major construction activities.

  • Using a section of the existing Metro Tunnel Project site compound off Ashley Street to support construction operations
  • Installing fencing, lighting and CCTV at each compound
  • Establishing a laydown area on Rupert Street for materials storage
  • Ground preparation works, including levelling for crushed rock placement
  • Non-native tree and vegetation removal within the rail corridor and tree pruning and removal near the Rupert Street temporary car park
  • Locating underground services and surveying conditions in the area
  • Delivering site offices at Rupert Street and Ashley Street on oversized vehicles during the day
