We are delivering stage 1 of Melbourne Airport Rail, with the Australian and Victorian governments investing more than $4 billion to deliver 6km of major rail upgrades from West Footscray to Albion. The works will include transforming Sunshine into a transport superhub and building new modern and accessible stations at Tottenham and Albion.
Now that water relocation works have finished, we will close Sun Crescent and City Place overnight on Monday 7 September and Tuesday 8 September while we resurface some sections of the road.
What we're doing
- Removing some of the existing road surface
- Installing new asphalt on the road
During these works, the temporary fish pavement artwork on City Place will also be removed. For any enquiries about the artwork, please contact Brimbank City Council.
What to expect
- Work crews, machinery and construction vehicles (including trucks) in the area
- Low to moderate levels of construction noise at various times, as well as dust and vibration
- Lighting in place when we work at night
When we'll work
We will undertake the following night works in Sunshine:
- Working 7pm to 7am each night on Monday 7 September and Tuesday 8 September (2 nights)
These works have been scheduled at night to avoid disrupting daytime traffic.
Changes to the way you travel
See changes to the way you travel on the next page. For your safety, please follow temporary traffic management signage in place. Pedestrian access to all businesses will remain available.
Road
- Sun Crescent closed 7pm to 7am, Monday 7 September and Tuesday 8 September (2 nights).
- Light vehicles detoured via Watt Street and heavy vehicles via Anderson Road and Durham Road. Please follow the detours and directions on the temporary signs.
- Bus services will not be affected.
- City place closed 10pm to 5am, Monday 7 September and Tuesday 8 September (2 nights).
- Detour via the station car park and Sun Crescent.
Car parking
- Approximately 20 on-street car spaces on Sun Crescent between Durham Road and Watt Street closed 10pm to 5am, Monday 7 September and Tuesday 8 September (2 nights).
- businesses will remain open, please seek alternative parking or use on-street parking outside the closure area.
- Approximately 12 on-street car spaces on City Place closed 10pm to 5am, Monday 7 September and Tuesday 8 September (2 nights).
- Businesses will remain open, please seek alternative parking.
