Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1: West Footscray to Albion Rail Upgrade
We are delivering stage one of Melbourne Airport Rail with the Australian and Victorian governments investing more than $4 billion to deliver 6kms of major rail upgrades from West Footscray to Albion. These works will include transforming the Sunshine Station into a superhub and building new modern and accessible stations at Tottenham and Albion.
From Monday 11 May to September 2026, we will be relocating underground utilities in the Sunshine Station precinct, helping clear the way for a new rail line to the airport and the redevelopment of the station.
To safely do these works there will be some changes in the area, including at the train station car park off Sun Crescent, the laneway north of City Place and the pedestrian plaza beside the Dickson Street bus interchange.
