Major upgrades at Ford Park are taking shape as part of a $68 million investment, with new facilities for local sports clubs and the community to be complete mid next year.

New cricket nets are now ready for clubs to use for training, with public exercise stations and extra play equipment ready for use early next year.

Demolition works to remove the old grandstand are also complete, making way for a new pavilion.

To ensure sport can continue while these major upgrades take place, temporary facilities have been installed next to the northern oval while the southern oval is being upgraded.

Once the first stage of upgrades are complete mid next year, the Yarra Junior Football League will start using the new facilities, joining Ford Park’s existing clubs, Bellfield Cricket Club and Ivanhoe Junior Football Club.

Works have been carefully planned and designed to minimise tree removal as much as possible, and more than 100 trees will be planted at Ford Park towards the end of the upgrade works.

To make way for the new community facilities, some tree removal has been unavoidable.

Early next year, we'll talk to nearby residents about where they would like new trees planted within Ford Park.

Ford Park has been a community meeting place for over 40 years, once serving as a space for former Heidelberg High School students, bike riding lessons, a traffic school and many local sports competitions. We want to make sure Ford Park remains a great place for the community to meet, play sport and enjoy for many years to come.
