Bulleen Park Sports Upgrade is part of North East Link’s more than $100 million sports and recreation program to deliver game-changing community benefits that will keep local clubs playing and thriving during construction and beyond.

We’re almost ready to start upgrading Bulleen Park with contract awarded in late January 2025. The project team is now preparing for early works on site. Significant progress has also been made on the design of the upgrades, with workshops held in December 2024 with key stakeholders.

When we'll be working

  • Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm

Temporary car park

From early March, we’ll start building the temporary car park at the western end of the park to enable visitors to use the park during construction.

The car park will be open from mid-April with 151 spaces before we gradually start closing the existing car spaces for upgrade works.

Access to Bulleen Park

Public access and parking at Bulleen Park will be maintained.

Access to the temporary car park will be from the current access route via Bulleen Road.

The existing pedestrian path north of the site adjacent to the Yarra River will remain unaffected. As upgrade works progress, we’ll set up temporary fences and pathways with clear signage to guide you through the area.

Access to the existing pavilion and ovals will be maintained while we start redeveloping the soccer pitches into a third oval

Environmental and safety measures

We carefully manage our works in line with the project’s strict environmental performance requirements including:

  • monitoring noise and dust levels to ensure compliance with regulations
  • speed restrictions for vehicles
  • implementing regular water cart spraying and environmental controls
  • using traffic management to safely guide drivers, cyclists and pedestrians through the area.

For the safety of the public and our workers, only authorised personnel are permitted in work areas.

Future changes to Bulleen Park access road

There will be further changes to Bulleen Road this year as works continue to build the entrance to the North East Link tunnels and the Yarra Link Green Bridge.

Part of these works will also involve the temporary realignment of sections of Bulleen Park access road to ensure access into Bulleen Park remains available as these works are completed.

More information on these traffic changes will be provided to the community in the coming months.
