Community Update

Designs have been released for new soccer facilities as part of North East Link Program's massive investment in local sport.

The facilities will be located at 27–59 Templestowe Road and will cater for hundreds of players from local teams, as well as the local community.

Development Victoria will deliver the project, and site investigations will start in February with major construction to follow. The fields will be ready for use in 2024.

The new soccer facilities are in addition to North East Link Program's initial $68 million investment into local sports upgrades.

FAQs

What can I expect during construction?

As we build the new soccer facilities, there will be some impacts to the community, including increased noise, dust and vibration near the work site.

These impacts will be closely managed during works and must comply with several strict requirements, including adhering to applicable noise limits.

We’ll continue to keep the community up to date with construction activity and any disruptions.

Who will have access to the site once the new facilities have been built?

Manningham Council will manage the new facilities which will be used by local sports clubs and open to the community for use outside of training and matches, in line with council’s allocation policy.

Will any trees need to be removed?

Works have been carefully planned and designed to avoid tree removal as much as possible, but some trees in the area will need to be removed to build the new soccer facilities.

Areas identified as home to threatened fauna species will be protected and not impacted by the final design or construction.

For every tree that needs to removed, 2 will be replanted. Across the wider North East Link Program, more than 30,000 trees will be planted in one of the biggest tree planting programs for a major transport project in Victoria.
