Works are progressing across all our sites, with bridges and major new interchanges continuing to take shape along the freeway.

Construction snapshot

We're applying finishing touches on the Heyington and Estelle bridges over the freeway, ready for opening later this year.

We've started a 5 week construction blitz at Doncaster Road interchange and for works to start on the upgraded Doncaster Park and Ride.

Look out for new noise walls going up along the Eastern Freeway too!

When are we working

Day works - 6am to 7pm from Monday to Friday and 7am to 3pm Saturdays and Sundays
Night works - 6pm to 7am from Monday to Saturday
Day / night works - at times during day and night works hours
24-hour works - (at times). Notification provided before works.

We use water carts and noise blankets wherever possible to reduce dust and noise while we work.

We will be in touch with impacted residents regarding specific times for construction actives.

Upcoming disruptions in Bulleen

In Bulleen, great progress is being made on the Yarra Link green bridge and tunnel entrance. Over the coming months, you'll continue to see these structures take shape as you travel along Bulleen Road.

Further north, works are continuing on the Manningham Road interchange entry and exit ramps, as well as on construction of the Motorway Control Centre. We’re also assembling the 550-tonne green gantry crane needed to retrieve our Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), which are now over halfway through their journey towards Bulleen.

Reinforcement and concrete works.

Installing barriers and asphalting on Bulleen and Thompsons roads.

Removal of right turn into Bulleen Road from Thompsons Road
Use of directional lighting

Day and night works

Piling works to build retaining wall, noise wall, underpass connections and bridge foundations.
Drainage works next to citybound exit and entry ramps.
Temporary shared path construction, including some vegetation removal, earthworks, piling and asphalting.
Steel fixing and concrete pours for bridge pier works.

Night works

Installation of cabling for new on-road technology.

Setting up temporary fencing, earthworks and vegetation removal in Columba Reserve to establish worksite for noise wall construction.

Site and freeway investigations, asphalting, barrier realignment, and line marking.

Zone 2: Bulleen Road to Doncaster Road, Koonung Creek Reserve

Ongoing/existing works

Day works

Building shared paths and landscaping in Koonung Creek Reserve.

Day and night works

Earthworks, installing underground cabling and building shared path along Estelle Street.
Ongoing widening and gas main works on Doncaster Road bridge.
Earthworks, drainage, permanent pavement and retaining wall works at Doncaster Road Ringwood-bound and citybound exit ramps.
Pavement works on citybound entry ramp and Doncaster Road.
Switching traffic to citybound side of new Doncaster Road bridge.
Delivery and installation of steel beams for flyover bridge structures in Koonung Creek Reserve.

Night works

Installation of cabling for on-road technology under freeway.
Doncaster, Gardenia and Greythorn roads intersection signalling and decommissioning works.
Site and freeway investigations, asphalting, barrier realignment and line marking.

What to expect

Free pedestrian shuttle bus running every 30 minutes, from 7am to 6pm, until new Estelle Street bridge opens in late November
Closure of Doncaster Road Ringwood-bound exit ramp until 5am, Monday 15 December
Medium to low night time levels of noise, dust and vibration
Use of directional lighting
24/7 operation of a pump system to remove groundwater from sewer shafts at Willow Bend
Access and use of Koonung Creek Reserve worksite day and night

Day works

Concreting city side of Doncaster Road bridge.

Day and Night works

Relocating utilities, piling for new overhead signage, installing permanent pavements and line marking.

Night works

Installation of cabling for new on-road technology on Doncaster Road near High and Hender streets.

What to expect

Closure of High Street at Doncaster Road until 5am, Monday 15 November

Completing connection works to tie watermains into existing services using trenching at High and Ayr streets and Timber Ridge.

Soil nail, piling, concreting, steel works and earthworks to build retaining walls.
Tree and vegetation removal.
Completing retaining walls.
Installation of concrete culverts.
Concrete foundations to build new multi-level car park.
Construction of temporary Ringwood-bound entry ramp at Hender Street.
Piling to build noise walls.

What to expect
