19 March 2025
We're upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology, Melbourne's first express busway and a seamless connection to North East Link.
What we're doing
From week commencing 31 March 2025, we’ll remove trees and vegetation on the northern side of Mountain View Road to prepare for the next stage of works. This will create a safe space for construction and allow us to extend the Koonung Creek Reserve worksite in the coming weeks.
As we're working near roads and shared paths, we'll need to work at night to safely carry out these works. Mountain View Road will need to close at night with access maintained for residents. We'll maintain access to your driveway, however please avoid parking on the street during this time.
In April, we’ll extend the Koonung Creek Reserve worksite further into the nature strip north of Mountain View Road, with 4m high noise reducing fencing installed around the site. This will allow us to:
- upgrade retaining walls, noise walls, and a shared walking and cycling path
- create space to build one of the foundation piers for the Eastern Freeway flyovers to the North East Link tunnels
- divert the existing Koonung Creek trail (see map below for details).
When and where
Night works: 7pm to 6am, Monday 31 March to Friday 4 April 2025.
Mountain View Road and Bulleen Road citybound exit ramp.
What to expect
- Removal of some trees and vegetation on the nature strip adjacent to the Koonung creek trail on Mountain View Road
- Traffic controllers assisting with access to Mountain View Road and the Koonung Creek Trail, with some minor delays expected at times.
As we do these works you may notice:
- An increase in construction vehicles on Mountain View Road
- Traffic controllers and directional signage.
- High levels of noise, vibration and dust from machinery and equipment
- Visual changes from tree and vegetation removals.
Managing impacts
We carefully manage our works in line with the project's strict environmental performance requirements, including:
- Monitoring noise, dust and vibrations levels with real time monitoring technology
- Minimising light spill with targeted directional lighting away from residences
- Preventing dust and water runoff using street sweepers and water carts
- Traffic controllers to assist residents entering and exiting Mountain View Road.
If your home is located in close proximity to the works area we’re offering temporary relocation to alternative accommodation for residents in your property. Please contact the Contact Centre on 1800 105 105 to discuss options.
We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout these works.
