We’re upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new Eastern Busway, smart technology and a connection to North East Link — slashing travel times and improving travel in Melbourne’s east.

What we're doing

We're continuing to install barriers on the Eastern Freeway between Middleborough Road and Springvale Road and setting up safe construction zones on freeway shoulders, in open space areas and in some sections of the Koonung Creek Trail. To keep construction traffic off local streets, we'll work behind barriers to build work site access points from the freeway.

When are we working?

Day works: 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturdays.
Night works: 7pm to 6am at times Monday to Sunday.

We use water carts, noise blankets and street sweepers wherever possible to reduce dust, mud tracking and noise while we work. We'll be in touch with impacted residents regarding specific times for construction activities.

Upcoming disruptions in Bulleen, Balwyn North and Doncaster

The Eastern Freeway will be closed in both directions between Bulleen and Doncaster roads from 10pm Friday 7 November to 5am Monday 10 November to demolish a bridge over the freeway.
